Happy MLK Day! We had our first snow in NYC this past weekend which was so magical. Being from California, I got so excited seeing snow drifting down from the sky; we will see how I feel about that when it turns into slush! For now, the sun is shining, the ground is coated in fresh powder, and the city looks like a winter wonderland.
We did a bit of shopping yesterday to take advantage of some of the crazy sales going on. I read once that January is the best month to go shopping because the sales are the best all year. We wandered into JCrew where M found a classic slim fit button up shirt for $9.99 (?!) and I found a whole armful of items that were left in small and petite sizing. I ended up purchasing the Stadium Majesty Peacoat in navy (size 00), which was on sale from $298 down to $45; that is an even better deal than offered at the JCrew sample sale a few months ago, when these coats were going for around $100. I was surprised to find that the 00 fit me snugly; the shoulders and sleeve length fit like petite sizing. Unfortunately these coats went like hotcakes and are all sold out online, but check your local J Crew store for a few items that may still be hanging around.
I also picked up a lace sweatshirt that is similar to this one here for less than $30. This is a great time to stock up on some staples for layering such as this long sleeve T and a classic button up with cute foil dots.
Here are some other items that caught my eye that are still available online in small sizes:
Ann Taylor is also having an extra 70% off of sale items, ending today. A lot of the clothing I had picked earlier is now sold out in petite sizing, but I was happy to find that the beloved mini tote bags I reviewed here have now been restocked in select colors (black and ink blue). I was again tempted by the sleek leather bootie and boot, both of which have a high stacked heel. However, the online reviews say that the calf circumference runs large, so it probably would not be a great fit for me. Here are some of my favorite accessories from the sale:
